History

The City Church Ventura started in September 2010 as a replant on the facilities of Ventura Worship Center, formerly College Heights Baptist Church. In less then one year it has grown from a handful of people to over 500. It is a vibrant light to the community with beautifully remodeled facilities used to house both the church and College Heights Christian School, a ministry of The City Church.

In early 2010, Pastor David Kilpatrick, of Ventura Worship Center, contacted Pastors Jude and Becky Fouquier about potentially moving to Ventura to plant a church. The Fouquiers had served at The City Church of Seattle under Pastors Wendell and Gini Smith, as well as Pastors Judah and Chelsea Smith, for over 18 years. After much prayer and visiting Ventura, the Fouquier family knew this was to be their home. In June 2010, Ventura Worship Center unanimously voted to give their facilities to the Fouquiers to plant a new local church. In August 2010 the Fouquiers moved with their sons, Jude, Jon, and Jake, to Ventura and began immersing themselves in the community.

September 19, 2010, The City Church Ventura was born with over 100 in attendance. The first year of the church has been filled with remodeling of the facilities, growing the existing College Heights Christian School, raising up a leadership team, and getting involved in the community. The City Church Ventura now has over 500 weekly in attendance, over 100 young people weekly in Generation Church, an exciting life-giving City Kids ministry for birth through 6th grades, and over 40 City Groups (small groups).
